Kennelly Skatepark

Kennelly Skatepark in Oakland, CA, might not be the crown jewel of skateparks, but it's got a gritty vibe that attracts local skaters looking for a place to shred. With a 2.2-star rating from 38 skaters, it's clear this spot has its ups and downs, but if you’re down for some raw street style, it’s worth a roll.

The top bowl is nice and I appreciate how shallow it is (and that there are varying heights that one can drop in from). I wish the deep bowl was not positioned at the bottom of a hill! In my opinion the design of this skatepark is lacking.

Weird design that sucks the joy out of skating. Everything is cramped up and tight. You get any speed you hitting something hard. Ultimate hazard is the pit in the middle that is hard to see. Everything is slopped downward so no energy to get back up.

Summer hours: 12-7 pm every day. I came out, and there was an employee at the gate watching the skate park. He said summer hours are 12-7 pm every day until school starts back up, and then they go back to 12-7 pm on weekends and 3:30-7 pm Mon, Wed. Fri. The skate park itself looked decent.
