It’s a small local DIY; rough surface and workable obstacles. It all comes down to how you ride, how much you want to progress, and how creative you are. Ledges and curbs a good for grinds, you can get a workable flow off the banks, and random obstacles and occasional offerings like a portable floor rail always makes for interesting sessions; if you can ride here, you can ride anywhere! People are generally cool if you respect basic park etiquette. Area has some good nearby food and cafes for post-session refuels. It’s not a multi-million dollar Spohn Ranch creation; it’s a curated crafting of local users and totally worth a visit.

From a quick Google search I've learned this DIY in Kensington, MD has been there in some shape or form for about 10 years. That's pretty impressive for a DIY. I'm assuming the local authorities are okay with it being there. That being said, with the rare guarantee of longevity at a DIY you could really go to town and build a solid park without fear of it being torn down. There's a lot of concrete here but honestly there's not much to skate. The little spine, the odd flat ledge and block were my favourite things to skate, the rest of it was strangely lumpy and either too steep or too mellow. Still, that's the beauty of a DIY- the locals have built their park to their standards and built exactly what they want to skate. You have to applaud that. Who am I to criticize? It does seem like an active build too- cement bags and wheelbarrows were being stowed away so expect some new additions soon. I just don't think I'll be making the 90 minute commute again to find out.

It's a neighborhood gem. We started bringing ramps up here over 25 years ago. There is a great sense of community that is tied to this slab of asphalt. Beginners, amateurs, and pros skate here together. A few huge names in skateboarding were birthed here. I hope to see this place around forever, but developers are pushing in. This place has always been a part of Kensington, and always should be there as a place where kids can get together and feel like they belong.
