Short version: Go somewhere else. This park is in pretty bad shape. I'm sure there's some kids who rip this place, but with other skate parks in the area I can't imagine this is the best one. Lots of gaps in the surfaces and screw heads sticking up that are just waiting to bite into your knees or elbows and tear out a chunk of flesh.

Compare this to online images of a modern skate park like Gabe Nesbitt in Dallas or just any skate park video on YouTube and you'll see that not only are the steep plastic vert ramps at this place stuck in 1987, there are huge cracks in the ground like small stairs that will cause you to slam. The obstacles and grounds are in rough shape. Place is also very unsanitary. Lubbock can do better than this and needs to get with the times. A proper modern skate park here is regularly talked about / in demand*

Ramps are old and not maintained the best by the city. They are prefabricated ramps, so they aren't necessarily the best to begin with, however you can definitely learn plenty here and it's better than many other parks like it I've seen. Not in the best part of town and I've seen plenty of sketchy things happen here over the past 6 years of going here several times weekly. It's better than nothing and is still running and bringing new people into action sports today after being open for 15 years or so.
